This garment is hand knitted using merino, spun into soft, supple yarn using a charkha by women artisans. The wool has been dyed using Catechu dye and woven on a hand operated loom. The garment is assembled by hand sewing and embroidery.
At Peoli, it is our constant effort to ethically source natural dyestuffs, use harvested rain water and solar energy for each process and archive the diminishing crafts as a step towards creating a sustainable system of hand spinning, natural dyeing and hand knitting in Uttarakhand.
The variations produced in the colour and the yarn due to the various hand processes - give rise to a new hue and texture…a unique piece every time – that is the magic of “the handmade”.
